PRF #99 downloaded April 2006 has the following notes-TLS Unsure who the author is......
The story is that Peter, his wife, four sons and one daughter left Germany and came to America.  In the census taken in 1790, adults and children totalled 8 males, 7 females.  Personally, I haven't documented this yet.  According to the most research done this is probably just a story.  The Voncannons did come from Germany, but this particular family most likely did not cross the ocean together. I' still working on this one.
